- Officers’ reports
a) Secretary – Chris Farr
Nothing to update.
b) Treasurer – Ian Macklin
Slightly less money than previous years, mainly due to necessity to change bank accounts to Metro (which was also a lot of hassle!). We probably also need to change again (possibly Virgin) as they are introducing a fee. Relay biggest cost. Balance is currently £1409.
Discussion re membership fees which are currently at £6 per annum. All agreed to change to £10 per annum as from next year. Accounts below and as additional document.
c) Membership Secretary – Richard Cronin
Membership is slightly down by 10 members but these are mainly those not attending / moved away etc.
d) Club Captains
Donna Grant – female captain
Donna extended a well done to all our relay team members. Also well done to Briony for winning at Cats Back fell race.
There will be a write up of relays on MDC website in due course.
Matt O’Keefe – male captain
No update received.
Simon Darke has volunteered to take over this role.
e) Health and Safety Officer – Alan Stone
Not present – no update received
f) Welfare Officers – Mark Saunders and Alice Bedwell
Not present but reported happy to continue in role and need to do another Safeguarding course.
- Website and communications – Sarah C
Website hosting costs have increased to £108 this coming year. All winter training runs are now on website.
- Tuesday night runs
All runs on website for the winter period. Thanks for the volunteers for continuing to organise / lead etc.
Jonny and Briony are hosting the Mari Lwyd run last Tuesday before Christmas.
Chris F noted that there will be ad hoc slow paced if familiar route and enough interest.
- Events/Grand days out/ fell races
Discussion around grand day out on Cornish coast as suggested/ hosted by Sophie Pooley. Donna has agreed to arrange.
Preseli Beast and Dib Dab are two summer races worth attending and we have represented MDC in the past.
Gary D mentioned Craig y Allt 31st Jan – needs helpers. Was looking for another organiser of Brecon Beacons but no-one came forward – this one may be counter for Welsh Champs.
Simon D is organising Cribyn again.
WFRA calendar will be up on website shortly.
7. Sustainability update – Briony
Briony reported that she has been invited to join FRA group regarding sustainability in sport. She has also applied for funding for research project investigating impact of extreme heat, exacerbated by climate change, in fell running.
